  1. Agaricus says:

A decent but overpriced Pinot Noir: Roger Belland Santenay Charmes 2006. Hand picked from 35-year-old Pinot Noir vines south east of Santenay, the grapes are vinified at low temperature for a long period (5 weeks). Maturation: 1 year in French oak barrels. A fairly pale red wine with brown tinges. Cherries, mushrooms, light farmyard and lilac aromas, also blackcurrants (just a hint) and earthy notes on the nose. Honestly, in the mouth it is not very complex with flavours of bilberries, cherries and some grassy notes. Medium body, lively acids (a bit too much to my taste, however, still within the normal range), velvety tannins, smooth, medium length finish.
